President's Message:
After the attacks by terrorists on September 11th, 2001, and realizing that individuals involved in Fire and Rescue run in to hazardous situations when all the rest of us are running out, I wanted to do something to help the Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department in Deer Creek Illinois. But in thinking this, didn't know exactly how I could help, or what might be needed so I started doing some research. As a family historian genealogist, research is what I enjoyed so this initial part of my efforts came easy.
I knew there would be Memorials in the years to come on September 11th, and I didn't want what I had been planning to conflict with that, but I did want what I planned to take place around that time of year. In 2002, the first date available for a community event was on the 22nd, and I realized that fell just 11 days after September 11th, so that was the date I established for the first Deer Creek Cruising Classic Car Show as a "Celebration" to Fire and Rescue Workers everywhere. I invited a lot of local Fire Departments to show off their equipment and the show was a huge success.
I established a "company", limited in scope at that time, but a "company", then, enlisted volunteers to help organize and put on the car show and celebration. My son Jeff and I traveled all over the State of Illinois handing out flyers I had paid to have printed out of my own pocket. Thousands of flyers went out to car show after car show all over the state, personally handed out by my son and I at first. Then, Dave and Pam Lester stepped up and offered to "volunteer" to help, along with others that wanted a more discrete behind the scenes participation. And is how the Deer Creek Cruising Classics Car Show came into existence.
After the 2002 Deer Creek Cruising Classics Car Show ended, "all" of those funds were left in place with the "volunteers" Dave and Pam Lester, along with other assets I have personally purchased for the car show and celebration. I also left a large banner, and fireman with flag display in storage at the Deer Creek Firehouse and a dozen Garbage Barrells I had purchased and had painted for the Car Show that the Village of Deer Creek offered to store for the company. The ground roller, cash drawer, soda cooler, names and addresses that the company owned were all left in the hands of the volunteers Dave and Pam Lester ready for next year. The event was never intended for anyone to profit from it so the cash income raised was only to pay for the following year event and for donations to the Deer Creek Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service.
Unfortunately, my personal life fell apart in the spring of 2003, after a Village of Deer Creek worker found me unconscious in my front yard. A short time after that I learned my wife of 22 years and her mom had alledgedly financially betrayed me out of my home ownership. Thus, my life fell apart, but as they say, you can't keep a good man down long. So thru forgiveness, I have moved on. Thankfully, with the help of the assets I had paid for, planning I had started, and with a lot of loving volunteer work by Dave and Pam Lester, the car shows continued in the same direction as I had initially organized raising funds for the Volunteer Deer Creek Fire and Rescue. Unfortunately, due to my personal life falling apart due to an alledged horrible financial betrayal, there will always be people who will say I am mentally off balance. But over time, even those people will see the truth because actions speak louder than words.
So, now, in 2008, I am slowly and more quietly working on the car show, building and protecting what was started and continued for all the right reasons. As the "company" continues to grow, and expand, it was felt that incorporation was a vital part of that to secure the future. Thru incorporation further funding could be achieved and thus expantion of efforts with continued success of the car show events could be reazlied. The incorporation could also then protect against potential liabilities, and tax related issues while still being able to bring in volunteer help to organize, promote and continue the car show celebrations for Fire and Rescue Workers Everywhere. My part of that may or may not be limited as I rebuild my own personal life, but the efforts put forth to this date deserve maximum effort.
You see, as a "company" I saw the bigger picture, because there are many towns with the name of "Deer Creek", many "businesses" that carry the name of "Deer Creek" and all of those across this great country may also want to build their own "Celebration of Fire and Rescue Workers Everywhere", thus further increasing the reach of the "Deer Creek Cruising Classics, Inc." and it's concept to honor those heros.

More about Thomas W. Rogers:
Tom was born on Mother's Day, 1954 to Donald C. and Cleta Rogers of Morton Illinois where he grew up. He has been married three times, all ending in alledged betrayals by his exwifes. He has five children and five grandchildren. He came home to early to catch his first wife in bed with his best friend, his second wife ran off with a man she met at a neighborhood bar and after 22 years of marriage to his third wife, he learned her and her mom alledgedly cheated him out of his home ownership by shredding a contract for deed on a property he purchased from his inlaws. He has had health problems since he was a child when he underwent three major surgeries on his colon and urinary trac to keep him alive, and walks on ankles with a small bone broken in each that never would heal. Despite all this, Tom has always bounced back from sadness and hates cheats and liars. His personality, caring, compassion and generosity for people who are around him is incredible. The one man he most looks up to is the great comedian politician "Will Rogers" who said "I never met a man I didn't like", but Tom will laugh and say "He didn't say anything about woman, but maybe that is because he wasn't as unlucky as I have been". Tom Rogers has been and continues to be his very generous self, continues to volunteer doing online genealogy research for others and, if you search out his genealogy email address on google: travelback4u@aol.com you will find he has been very active for many years. His own email address honors his ancestors as well as the ancestors of others and he has used this email address for about 10 years. Today, Tom works in a pawnshop and despite having a criminal record due to his emotional overload during the last alledged betrayal, he was allowed to work where they also sell guns. People who really know Tom fully understand how deeply he has been hurt, what that has caused in his life, but also, they see that "he" won't allow it to change the "good man he is". People who really know him understand that he is very forgiving just as Jesus has taught him to be, and as we all should be in everyday life. He is also the published Author of "Sleeping with the Jehova's Witnesses" A story of a wife's religious and financial betrayal.
